About LHMU’s BIG STEPS in Childcare campaign
Our BIG STEPS campaign is led by women and men in childcare committed to improving their own working lives and the lives of children in their care.
BIG STEPS brings together childcare professionals, parents, community leaders and government to make major reform to Australia’s childcare system.
LHMU is one of Australia’s largest unions. We are a union of workers organising to win better jobs, stronger communities, a fairer society and a sustainable future. LHMU members work in childcare, security, cleaning, hospitality, manufacturing and ambulance.
Job description
BIG STEPS Campaign Organisers work in teams under the supervision of a Lead Organiser to:
• Join childcare staff to the union
• Build activism and leadership amongst union members in the BIG STEPS campaign
• Promote the BIG STEPS campaign
Training is provided and Campaign Organisers receive ongoing support and development.
Qualifications
• Passion for change and quality childcare
• Drivers licence now or soon
• Experience in union, community, social justice, student or other activist campaigns preferred
Full-time, Part-time, Internships
A variety of positions are available. Applicants should indicate whether they seek full-time or part-time positions. Big Steps Internships are also available, and range from 1 to 4 weeks.
Pay
